Self-Drive Safari in Namibia

For most, coming to Africa is about exploration and full liberty. That is why self-drive safaris are so popular. With a self-drive safari you are your own driver and pilot so you decide what you do and where you go.
Namibia is an easy country to drive around due to the long well-maintained roads throughout the country. The main roads are all tarred and the rest are wide dirt roads. The roads are often very long and the distances that you cover in a self-drive safari are usually rather large but the beautiful landscapes of Namibia will keep you enthralled. All the roads, lodges and national parks are well sign-posted throughout the country making a self- drive safari really easy for anyone. Plus, if you take out Namvic’s Safari package with your car rental then you will have a GPS included so that there is no way you can get lost in the desert!
One of the best aspects of a self drive safari is being able to adapt each day to what you feel like doing, especially when on safari. Take as long as you want at the waterholes to observe the animals in their natural habitat. You can also add or take away activities as you please and create your own African adventure.
For your self- drive safari, Namvic can provide you with a range of reliable vehicles. Most clients go for our Nissan Hardbodys, perfect for couples who decide to have a self-drive safari, as they are comfortable double cabs, with plenty of space on the back bench for your bags and the back of the pick up for your suitcases and camping equipment. For more than just two people, we recommend a Toyota Hilux or Ford Ranger Double Cab. These have more leg room in the back and are great for self- drive safaris with 3 or more adults, or a couple on a guided safari. If you want to make your self-drive safari even more easy and relaxing, ask one of our tour consultants for one of latest Automatic cars.

Even on a self-drive safari, you are not totally alone though. Namivc has a 24/7 emergency service, so we will always be there to help you for any eventualities. Also, Namvic will explain to you in great detail all the different aspects of your 4x4 once we have picked you up from the airport and bought you to Namvic’s office to get your car. For all safaris, security is our priority.
If you decide to have a self-drive safari we highly recommend that you book your accommodation before your arrival as Namibia and Botswana are both extremely popular and most accommodation is fully booked many months in advance. But don’t worry, Namvic’s tour consultants are here to get you the best deals on all accommodation in Southern Africa no matter where your self-drive safari takes you.
